Ingredients
- 225 g butter
- 450 g caster sugar
- 140 g dark chocolate
- 5 eggs
- 110 g flour
- 55 g cocoa powder
Instructions
- 1
Heat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/Gas 5. Line a 20x30cm/8x12in baking tin with baking paper.
- 2
Gently melt the butter and the sugar together in a large pan. Once melted, take off the heat and add the chocolate. Stir until melted.
- 3
Beat in the eggs, then stir in the flour and the cocoa powder.
- 4
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared tin and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top of the brownie is just firm but there is still a gentle wobble in the middle.
- 5
Take out of the oven and leave to cool in the tin. Cut the brownies into 5cm/2in squares when only just warm, or completely cool.
Equipment
- Bowl
- Measuring cup
- MIxer
- Baking tin
- Sieve
- Baking paper
Notes
For the best texture, don’t overmix the batter, and be sure to remove them from the oven as soon as a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached. If you like extra richness, melt some chocolate and fold it into the batter. Let them cool in the pan before slicing to allow the fudgy center to set. For added crunch, try mixing in walnuts or pecans!

I’m not much of a cook, but this turned out amazing. Will be making it again for sure.
